trip to Pacific

Lange has already Myrian, my English teacher, invited me to help with their projects in Tirua. Now it works, finally, because this week there are no children in the Hogar. Tirua had been affected in the severe earthquake in February of last year strong, the tsunami destroyed the livelihoods of many families.

With Myrian, Victor and her son Dan, and a friendly family We go back over the weekend and they have a house there and help the people with projects and workshops to find ways to make money and to get a new life.

So I also experience the same a typical Chilean family trip: After it was said, I am picked up by 9 clock, I wait about one and a half hours, until they come to pick me up with a minibus. Before shopping bags with nothing but tons of food, I barely fit into the car. But not enough, before it really starts, we stop at two supermarkets, to buy more food. Then off you go, although some 2 ½ hours later than planned, but it's all completely relaxed and all good things. The trip is going on and we must have chips and cookies gevespert, to be cola and mate passed. The journey, the further we move away from Temuco, always adventurous, we drive through the countryside, mostly non-paved roads, there shaking from and secured as my, is not more properly seems to be, I cannot in every curve on top of my neighbor .

First stop is then placed on Lake Lanalhue, to picnic. Mate, coffee, bread and boiled eggs, especially with the best ingredients (salsa tomato, fresh coriander and onions and chili = Aji), so I am told, are part of every trip to Chile. We then stop just before Tirua on the beach and Victor, Dan and I swim in the Pacific! Cold but great!

Then it goes to Tirua There is a small fishing village where one can because of the many stray dogs never without a stick for defense on the road, where five life more dogs as human beings!

Once in the house, we discover first of some rats. After Victor has removed them, there is dinner and then we go out on the streets and talk with the locals. A young mother told us in tears, swept along as all their belongings to the tsunami and their suffering was only 3 years old son from that terrible experience with trauma. Later take we are still in a meeting of residents in part, to gather, since that night a year ago occurred the terrible earthquake.

The next day starts early in the morning with a "temblor," a tremor which is not as strong as a "terremoto", a real earthquake. "Tremors" there was in recent months in the area Temucos very often, sometimes only slightly, but sometimes quite violently, and almost two minutes. A strange feeling, when suddenly everything starts to wobble.

morning we will visit many families and then go to a noon memorial service at the spot where stood before the earthquake and the 30m high wave half a village. Thereafter, a service celebrated together, we play and make things even more with the children before heading back to Temuco.
An interesting weekend with lots of beautiful but also sad encounters and fates.
